1. BUSINESS OVERVIEW
EV CONNECTION SDN BHD (“EVC” or “the Company”) is a leading EV Charging company in Malaysia that has an integrated EV Charger portfolio spanning supply, installation, operation, maintenance and R&D. As EVC continues to grow, we are committed to touching lives and creating positive societal impacts via our business activities and practices.
2. INTRODUCTION
In tandem with the Malaysia’s government target to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) was launched. Underpinned by the core belief that reducing Malaysia’s carbon footprint is one of the catalysts to transforming the economy on a more sustainable path, the NETR encapsulates the aspirations of all stakeholders, from industry players such as EVC, to ordinary Malaysians who envisions a harmonious coexistence with our planet. There are ten flagship catalyst projects of the NETR, which cover six energy transition levers namely, energy efficiency (EE), renewable energy (RE), hydrogen, bioenergy, green mobility, and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and this was launched on July 27th 2023.
3. OUR COMMITMENT
As a leading company within the green mobility space which forms a fundamental tenet of the NETR, EVC is committed to supporting the government’s push to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. With land transport vehicles that depend on the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) contributing to almost 85% of total transport emissions, the adoption of green mobility practices and technologies is imperative to address these substantial emissions burden. In particular, we aim to contribute to initiative GM-LV3 of the NETR, working hand in hand with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) to accelerate the electrification of light vehicles segment (E4W) via the below initiatives:
a) Improving the public EV charging infrastructure in Malaysia by deploying more EV chargers;
b) Ensuring an ample supply and adequate installation speeds of homechargers for EV owners;
c) Expand product awareness and model availabilities of EV chargers;
d) Reduce regulatory challenges in ramping up EV adoption including for setting up of charging infrastructure by working closely together with MITI and the relevant bodies / organizations and providing timely feedback when required
e) R&D to identify any localisation opportunities in relation to EV chargers.
It is our hope that these efforts will further catalyze the penetration of xEV (4W) share of the vehicle fleet to 80%, thus bringing the nation one step closer to the Net Zero 2050 goal.
